Golden State Warriors: NBA Referee Exposes ‘Profane’ Reason for Draymond Green Ejection

Draymond Green has attained a reputation of being nasty towards opposing players and referees officiating the game. As such, an NBA official has come out with the reason why the Golden State Warriors forward was ejected early during a match against the Orlando Magic.

Early into that game , Paolo Banchero attempted to drive to the basket as Andrew Wiggins defended the second-year Magic star. A foul was then called on the former Rookie of the Year, which then prompted Green to argue with Ray Acosta, the referee who called the foul.

Acosta then called a technical foul on the Warriors’ star after being shouted at by him. The jawing continued after that, which led to the official issuing a second technical foul on Green. At this point, the forward was ejected from the game as a result of his actions.

Even without Green, the Warriors got the 101-93 win over Orlando. Andrew Wiggins posted 23 points and six rebounds, while Stephen Curry added 17 points and 10 assists. Cole Anthony led the Magic as a reserve by dropping 26 points and seven rebounds while Banchero provided 15 points and eight rebounds.

NBA Referee Admits Reason Why Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green Was Ejected

Even after missing a period of time due to consistent dirty plays on the court, Green has found himself being involved in these incidents. A pool report conducted by Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel recently came about with Acosta shedding more light on why Green was ejected early in the game against Orlando.

“QUESTION: Golden State’s Draymond Green was ejected at the 8:24 mark of the 1st quarter. Why did Green receive a second technical foul?

ERVIN:  After a prolonged diatribe, Green directed egregious profane language towards a game official.

QUESTION: The ejection came early in the game, less than four minutes in, was the timing of the second technical foul considered at all before it was handed out?

ERVIN:  No, his actions met the standard for a technical foul, which was his second technical foul, which results in an automatic ejection.

QUESTION: Did the player’s history have any impact on the decision to hand him a technical foul and eject him?

ERVIN:  Absolutely not,” the report stated.

As seen in the report, Acosta handled the incident objectively and followed the NBA’s guidelines on issuing a technical foul. Also, the decision came without even considering Green’s history of being aggressive against officials.

It remains to be seen how the Warriors will handle Green moving forward. With every game a must-win for Golden State, they’re going to need the All-Star at his best behavior to make the playoffs.
