During the playoffs in the NBA, the players and fans reach the highest level of competitiveness. Many times during home games fans, especially the courtside sitters, do their best to troll the visiting team. Considering the Oklahoma City Thunder’s huge fan base, it was inevitable for the Dallas Mavericks to face hatred at the Paycom Center.

As the first game of the second round was starting, a courtside fan decided to set the tone for Luka Doncic. With 8:53 minutes left in the first quarter, the ball was thrown out, landing directly at the fan. Doncic stood in front of the said fan and asked for the ball, but the Oklahoma City Thunder fan did not even peak at the star.

The fan instead passed the ball to the other side as Doncic just hilariously stared at the fan in disbelief. The fan’s intentions may have succeeded as Doncic ended up turning the ball over 5 times in the game. The scoring pillar of the team also had a poor shooting night. The MVP candidate only scored 19 points in 41 minutes with 31.6 FG%

The Thunder after the first quarter started dominating the game and took a nine-point lead at halftime. The Dallas Mavericks failed to recover and lost the game by 22 points. The fan’s behavior affected the Mavs in more ways than one, as this was not the only time he was involved with the Mavericks.

NBA sent a warning to a Thunder fan mid-game

The courtside fan’s exchange with Doncic was seemingly just the tip of the iceberg. The fan taunted the Mavericks on multiple occasions. The fan was also accused of being problematic by Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving.

Similar to Doncic, the fan threw the ball passed by Irving at the referee which did not sit well with the Mavericks guard. The duo shared a few words and Irving ended up sending a warning to the fan. The super fan himself, Juan Guerra revealed the situation on X.

The Mavericks have a chance to redeem themselves on the road in game 2. The next game of the series will take place at home, creating an advantage for OKC. However, the Mavs are likely to make a comeback after their heartbreaking loss in game 1.
