Bears Designate Gordon, Kramer to Return From IR, and Other Roster Moves

The Chicago Bears were very busy on Monday after their long weekend off. Following the 40-20 win over the Washington Commanders on Thursday night, the Bears began setting their roster for Week 6's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

On Monday, the team began their flurry of roster moves by designating two players to return from the IR. Cornerback Kyler Gordon and center Doug Kramer are both set to return to practice. If both players practice in full this week, they could suit up this weekend at Soldier Field.

In addition, the Bears officially signed running back Darrynton Evans to the active roster. Reports surfaced on Sunday that the Beasr were signing him off of the Miami Dolphins' practice squad. With questions surrounding the health of all three running backs who played on Thursday night, adding depth to join D'Onta Foreman is crucial. Also, Nathan Peterman is back, but he has been signed to the practice squad.

The Bears will surely welcome back Gordon and Kramer with open arms. The defensive backfield has been bombarded by injuries to begin this season, so having one of their top corners back will be important. In addition, positive health trends from Eddie Jackson and Jaylon Johnson could return the secondary to full strength against the Vikings. As for Kramer, depth at center is key with the concussion suffered by Lucas Patrick and some rustiness from Cody Whitehair.

As for Evans, he spent time with the Bears in 2022, suiting up for six games in total. The familiarity with the scheme and organization was surely a reason for bringing him back in a time of need.

Finally, Peterman's return is not surprising. The journeyman quarterback has been on and off the roster numerous times this season, and was most recently released prior to the primetime game on Thursday night in Washington.

With Week 5 coming to an end on Monday night, the Bears will continue their prep for the Vikings this coming Sunday. Wednesday's injury report might add further optimism regarding the team's health entering the Week 6 battle. Until then, it's business as usual for the 1-4 Bears.
